Melanie Eisner Counseling is a place for sensitive people who often doubt themselves. People who fail to see their incredible value. People who tend to others before themselves. I help you meet yourself in your messy and beautiful imperfection, build compassion for yourself, and recognize the gifts that you innately possess.
My Philosophy:
I believe that kindness to our most vulnerable spaces is central to finding peace within ourselves.
My mission is to support you as you seek self-understanding, on your path to living with more connection, satisfaction, and meaning.
I am dedicated to serving you with depth, authenticity, and presence, and helping you gain a sense of your own value.
You are bright, compassionate and have a keen awareness of the world around you. But you often doubt yourself and fail to see your sensitivity as a gift. You have the capacity to feel deeply, but you often get inundated with emotions and avoid your inner world.
At times your tendency to have intense feelings has caused you to feel different. So you’ve shut down your emotions, distanced yourself from your creativity, and kept your most vulnerable self tucked away. In the past, hiding helped you fit in. But it also cut you off from your true self, and perpetuated the belief that you’re not okay as you are.
And blocking and numbing instead of bringing attention to the tender places within yourself amplifies feelings of worthlessness floating beneath the surface.
Hi, I’m Melanie and there is one thing I know for sure: Your differences are what make you beautiful.
In feeling inferior, you’ve forgotten what makes you special. This doesn't mean you can’t start to show up more in the world…
It simply means you need guidance to get away from society’s “shoulds.” It means you need support along the path to tapping into the wisdom inherent in your emotions. It means you need help in getting to know yourself again, and embracing your sensitivity and awareness as strengths.
That’s where I come in:
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker I create a space for you to find a sense of calm amidst the noise of a demanding world. Through a blend of mindfulness, psychodynamic, and experiential therapy, I help you to connect to your emotions and physical body and appreciate the twists, turns, and depths of your own story without self-criticism. Ultimately I support you as you begin to live your life with more fullness, clarity, and joy.
Here’s How I Help:
mindfulness: I will help you go beneath your layers of protection to your emotions as they are seated in the body. To be fully alive means to experience your range of feelings from the most painful to the most joyful. Healing doesn’t mean your pain goes away but that you have the capacity to be with reality and to bring compassion for yourself in the midst of it. No longer contracting in fear, but opening to life and taking it as it comes, is the first step to freedom.
psychodynamic: I believe that therapy is a sacred space that allows for a deep exploration of you are. Part of this work is to uncover the unconscious: states of mind, patterns, and relationship dynamics that happen outside of your full awareness. Bringing what has been hidden to the surface gives way to insights and integrations which are the pathways to change.
experiential: Therapy with me is not following a manual, but is an organism at the intersection of you and I which is constantly unfolding in the room, and which couldn’t take place anywhere other than right here and right now. In our relationship, we will build the connection, safety and trust that leads to transformation. Repairing old wounds and exploring new patterns and ways of being that better serve you, in the context of our real relationship, is integral to healing.
